Before / After Dental Veneers & Whitening
Veneers are an exciting alternative to braces sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics.” With dental veneers your new smile can often be completed in just two visits — without the need for bulky metal braces or surgery. Dental veneers can turn a crooked smile into a beautiful one “instantly,” unlike the years it can take for braces to be effective. Also, unlike the alternative of crowns which require the teeth to be considerably reduced, veneer preparations are very conservative — correcting only a thin layer of the enamel of the teeth.
Dental veneers are very thin layers of tooth-colored material that are bonded to the surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be made from porcelain or from a synthetic material that is a resin composite. Each veneer is custom made for the tooth to which it will be fitted. When properly placed, porcelain veneers are so similar to natural tooth structure that only the dentist will be able to determine that a patient has had veneers placed.
Veneers are an excellent solution for a variety of dental problems. Veneers can correct mild misalignment or they can be utilized to cover broken, discolored, worn down or chipped teeth. Dental veneers can be fitted to natural teeth, to crowns, to dentures and to teeth with fillings.
We will discuss your desires for your new smile and the treatment options that are available to achieve this outcome. If veneers are the right choice for improving your smile, you will have two appointments to complete the process. At the first appointment, we will prepare the tooth to receive the veneer.
Once the tooth has been prepared, an impression will be taken and provided to the dental laboratory which will manufacture your customized veneer. Using a high quality dental laboratory is an important step to ensuring a beautiful final veneer placement. At our office, we are very particular about the labs we choose to work with and this results in the highest caliber quality. Designing the perfect veneer is an art form requiring precision and an artistic eye from the dentist, as well as a top notch laboratory.
At your first veneer appointment, we will provide you with a temporary veneer to be worn while you wait for the lab to complete your veneer. Your second appointment will be scheduled in two to three weeks at which point the veneer will be bonded to your tooth.
Since their introduction, veneers have become a popular option for millions of people. Veneers are strong and durable, and they have the flawless beauty of perfectly natural teeth. The procedure is painless and the results can dramatically enhance the appearance of your smile.
